Bamboo Strand Board
The idea that spurred the creation of Panda Industries. BSB is an Engineered Panel designed to be the premier PS-2 Grade Oriented Strand Board. Fusing the structural and environmental benefits of Bamboo allows for a product that will lead in all aspects of strength, durability, and workability while decreasing a project’s overall environmental footprint compared to traditional timber OSB.
Strength and Durability
Bamboo has been dubbed the "vegetable steel." The specific species we utilize, and the patented formation of the board allows for a high performing and durable panel. BSB ranges from 1.5x to 7x stronger compared to traditional timber OSB.
Workability
Patented technology allows BSB to be nailed or screwed without splitting throughout the panel. BSB will be produced and sold as a PS-2 grade OSB alternative. The intended usage is roof sheathing, walls, and subfloors. BSB is currently undergoing ICC-ES to become building code compliant.
Sustainability
Bamboo is the ideal material because it sequesters 340% of the amount of carbon dioxide that a typical forest will, given the same area. Bamboo is also stronger and grows 3-5 times faster than standard softwoods. While taking only 5-7 years compared to lumber’s 15-25 years to grow, the supply schedule to has a faster regeneration rate.
